About Carolyn Mock

Carolyn Mock was raised in northeast Oklahoma in a mostly rural setting, which provided her an early love and appreciation for animals. "Although there wasn't any art in the schools back then, I kept sketching on anything I could find," she says. "An uncle gave me a small set of oils when I was 10, and I've been hooked on painting ever since."

After many years in the corporate world of commercial art, Carolyn was fortunate to begin studying with some of the best wildlife artists in the world, including Carl Brenders and Robert Bateman. "My choice of wildlife developed because of my firm belief that nature, as well as everything in it, has the right to exist," she says. "My style of realism allows me to show the dignity of each individual animal plus the awe I feel for them."

Carolyn remains devoted to oils. "I like its creamy feel and the fact that the drying time allows me the opportunity to work and blend as the painting evolves," she explains.

Carolyn has sold her originals through galleries and at art shows around the country, and her work is represented in the permanent collection of the Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She has licensed the reproduction rights to individual pieces for a variety of products, including prints, jigsaw puzzles, greeting cards and needlecraft kits. She is an associate member of Oil Painters of America and Women Artists of the West.

"I'm still learning every day to be a better artist," Carolyn says. "I feel that my best work is still ahead of me."
